Making Pillows: Creating the Layout Pattern

Hello! My name is Lindsay on behalf of Expert Village.com. In this clip, I am going to be showing you how to layout the pattern for the gimp. Right now we still have our pillow on what is going to be the inside. We are going to want to flip it over to where this is going to be the outside of the pillow and you can still keep the folded on the left or on the right whichever you prefer. On this side since we still have that extra inch on each side, we are going to take your measuring tape and mark an inch all the way around like we did before. With the design that I have chosen, I am going to use 3 lines of gimp on the top and I am going to make them all an inch and half apart. So from that 1 inch mark on the top that we have just made, we are going to go an inch down and make a mark. From that mark, we are going to go and inch and half down and that will be for the second line and from that mark, we do one more, an inch and half down. Those are going to be where you are going to place the 3 lines of gimp horizontal. On the right hand side of your pillow, you are going to do the same thing because we are going to have 3 lines of gimp going vertical. From that 1 inch mark you are going to go 1 inch and then you are going from that first inch mark for 1 ½ inch and that will be your second line of gimp. From that you go one more 1 ½ inch and those are going to be your three lines of gimp. You can also take your straight edge and mark it all the way across to have a straight line to where you are going to put the 3 lines of gimp.
