Utensils Needed for Making Braided Bread

Hi, my name is Brandon Sarkis on behalf of Expert Village. Today I'm going to show you how to make a braided wreath of bread. Now for equipment, not a whole lot here really today. I've got a stand mixer, you can do this by hand if you wanted, it would just be kind of tiring after awhile because you have to do a whole lot of mixing and a whole lot of working with the dough. So a stand mixer really a better way to go if you have one. With that you're also going to need the whip attachment which is this one or something like this depending on your mixer and the dough hook for once we get everything mixed together. The dough hook is really the better mixing implement to use. Beyond the mixer we also going to need a spatula. A rubber spatula, something to scrape down the inside of the bowl as we're working. You're also going to need a good knife to cut the dough apart in pieces as well as a good work space which I have a big wood cutting board below this. I like to use wood over anything else for working with dough because the wood will actually pull the moisture off the dough instead of letting it sit on the outside of it making it easier to work with. So that's important to realize. Besides that we're also going to need a brush to brush on the egg coating on the outside of it and we're going to need some towels. A couple of towels to keep the dough covered and also to wipe our messes as we go. And we need a very, very large bowl to let our dough rise in for the first rise as well as an oven to bake the bread in. So that being said let's go ahead and get started making our recipe.
