STEVE ANTHONY: On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Steve Anthony. I'm here in New York City. Today I'm going to talk a little bit about some beginning guitar picking techniques. Let's call this "Blues Flat Picking Part Two." You'll notice that the meat of my right hand is resting against the strings down here as I pick--give a sort of a chunky sound as opposed to playing it. You can experiment with that, varying the amount of pressure that you put on the strings with your right hand from a lot, just you can hear, takes away a lot of the tone. You find a nice, light touch and you could vary it as you play to soften notes or let them ring out. It's a very useful blues style.
