Strumming a Guitar for Finger Picking

STEVE ANTHONY: On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Steve Anthony. I'm here in New York City. Today, I'm going to talk a little bit about some beginning guitar picking techniques. What I'm doing now is a little combination of picking and strumming that is often used in country music, for example, where you're playing a bass pattern and strumming the chord. You could make it as simple or as complicated as you like. You can do it simple. In this instance, I'm using the flat pick, which is most commonly done in a rhythmic pattern like that. That's what it sounds like in a C. Now, how about a D? I think I can even pull out an E. I got it now. I'm on a roll. Don't stop me.
