Utilize Movement for Good Stage Presence

ALEX BOYE: Hi. My name is Alex Boye. On behalf of Expert Village, I'm here to teach you about how to perform effectively on stage. This microphone, it's a powerful thing. You could do so many things with it. And one of the things that's hardest when you're just a singer with a microphone and you have a backing track or maybe you have a band, you don't play an instrument, what do you do with your hands? What you do with yourself? There's so many things you can do with this. You can use this as a rhythm setup. And what I mean by that is--I remember I was watching the Country Music Channel and Kenny Chesney was doing a live performance. And he comes up, he's got his like little buffed arms, he's got his cowboy hat on, all right, okay, and he's here and this is all he does half the time. He's got his pose, okay? He does that and he's doing it to the beat. "Um, um, ah, um, um, ah, um, ah, um, ah." It looks sexy. I mean, it's hot, man! The girls go crazy! He's got the tight jeans and he's like, "Um, ah, um, ah, um, ah, yeah! um, ah." You are rocking, man! So, when you're doing an up tempo, a fast song, you don't play an instrument, use this as something that you can use. You can just mess around it, "Ah," switch it, "Um, ah, um, ah, um, ah, um." The girls love it, man. And you see, at the end of the day, whether you're married or not, our performance is all about the girls. I don't care what you say. They buy more CDs than any other, okay? They buy all the CDs especially the young ones, okay? So, you gotta--they love all that stuff. When you perform and you ham it up for the audience and stuff, "How you doing out there? You good? Yes! Sweet. We're going to rock it tonight, man! Okay, man, let's go! Um, um, ah, um, um, ah, um, um, ah, um, um, ah, oh, ah, um, ah." You know, it's crazy, man. You doing that kind of stuff, it's the best and it's so exciting. You don't have to be an incredible dancer to be able to ham it up on stage. You just need to be confident. And once you're confident, anything you do, even if it looks like dull bread, crap, people love it, people love it. Look at Steven Tyler, man. He does some kind of crap on stage but they love it because he's confident. So, if you use your confidence wisely, then people will love you and you will sell more CDs.
