Use the Mic to Maintain Good Stage Presence

ALEX BOYE: Hey everyone, my name is Alex Boye, here on behalf of Expert Village, and we are talking about how to use the stage effectively and how not to suck, basically. The audience has come for a reason and they--one of the reasons that--one reason they don't come is to be bored. They do not want to be bored. So you have to attract their attraction as often and as long as possible. So let's talk about, for example, imagine if when you watch TV, if you notice they show different camera angles, right? One angle you're like this and one is like, "[INDISCERNIBLE] No, honey, I can't do it. But I love you. No! If I can't have you, no one's going to have you! But what about if I--this? How about this?" Right, different camera angles. Why do they do that? Imagine if they show that same thing with just one angle. Boring! Boring. So this is what you have to learn to do onstage. Okay? So, if it's just you singing, okay, and you've got your song, alright, and you're doing your song right here, change the angle sometimes. Just by doing this, you've given them a different angle. Just by doing this, you've given them a different angle. Just sometimes, and if you're having a break, a musical break, mess around with your microphone. Use it to the beat, oooh-oooh-aah-oooh-oooh-aah [INDISCERNIBLE] aah-oooh-oooh-aah I can't. Aah-oooh-aah, get up! Aah-ugh-ugh. Get over here, aah-ugh-aah. Yeah! Right? You see that so many times. The reason why is because they're changing the angle. And in here is--I'm going to talk to you more--a bit more on the other side about stage and the parts of the stage that you should use, the most effective part of the stage and the most ineffective parts of the stage. So stick around. This is really good stuff.
