Acoustic Solos with Good Stage Presence: Part 3

ALEX BOYE: Hi. My name is Alex Boye. I'm here on behalf of Expert Village, and we are talking about how to perform effectively on stage and to have stage presence. Right now, well, let me ask you a question, Sterling. You ever heard the term "drama queen?" You hear that, right? STERLING: Yes. ALEX BOYE: Probably hear it at school every time. What is a drama queen? STERLING: Drama queen is someone who's pretending to be something really big or they're just blowing themselves out of proportion. ALEX BOYE: Okay, alright. This is how your performance has to be. Those are the most effective performances. Have you seen Queen? You've seen Queen? You have Freddie Mercury sit down with just a guitar, on his own. Dude, it is a whole different thing. I mean, the boy is crazy. But, you know what? He sells CDs and you can't argue with that, alright? Because he's such a drama--everything. Meat Loaf, another one, [START SONG] "I would do anything for love." [END SONG] Listen to the ending. [START SONG] "But I won't do that." [END SONG] Right? Right? Am I wrong? Am I wrong? Meat Loaf, man, and how many CDs did he sell? Oh, he killed it, because he was drama mama, drama queen. That's how you sell CDs. Put some more drama into your shows! You're an actor, you're playing on stage, and you are showing people your performance. Okay? We're going to talk about that more on the other side. Stick around.
