Piano Solos with Good Stage Presence: Part 2

ALEX BOYE: Hi. My name's Alex Boye, we're here on behalf of Expert Village, and we're talking about how to not suck on stage! How to develop stage presence. Right here, Mark was playing the--he played the last part of his song and he kinda played it and he was kinda like a downer. So we want to help him to be able to own the stage, own the audience. Okay? So play that last part again. Okay. I'm seeing it now. I saw something a little better, alright? But don't look at me. There's your people out there. Okay. So, once you finish your song p-ra-ra-ra-ra. You can see I can run it, p-ra-ra-ra-ra, bam! And don't move! You don't move until they clap their hands. Trust me they feel just as uncomfortable as you. They will clap their hands like a crazy animal. You see, it's like stage. You gotta perform for them, okay? When you're in theater they know how to do it. They perform. Imagine if you're a theater guy. So, you're like bam! Thank you. Right? Seriously, there's a huge difference! People look at that and they're like, "Dang. That boy he'd been performing for years." I don't know what it is about it but that's why the theater people know how to do it, man. When they end their song, when they end the show, it's always "Thank you!" alright? Now, you gotta be yourself still, alright? But there's ways that you can do that, where you show the audience who's boss, that you have finished your song! You're like--and let's say you're sitting down, you're like this, [START SONG] "Girl, you tell me I'll love you right there. Bam!" [END SONG] Walk to the front, right? Step out to the front to your audience. You own the show. Thank you very much. We'll see you on the other side.
