ALEX BOYE: Hi. My name is Alex Boye. We're here on behalf of Expert Village, making a video on how to not suck onstage, how to have stage presence. Right now, we're talking to the soloist, the guitarist. He's not the lead singer, he's the guitarist. He has a personality and not all the time--most of the times, people don't see it. He's traveled a long way, he's toured and everything and he gets to this venue and then he comes up and just does that. No, alright. So, what we want to talk to you about now is how to project this to the people out there. The first thing you need to do is--as I said before, who you're performing to? STERLING: The audience. ALEX BOYE: Okay, now go and perform to them. Okay, stop there. See, again we know that the talent is good but these people-- STERLING: Go to the audience? ALEX BOYE: These people--if there's a way that you can do that, alright, if you're motivational, speak up, alright. If you talk like this, "Anyway, I'm going to do this show right now. Do you like my jeans? Yeah, you know what it's like." It doesn't do any good for the audience. Might do it for a little bit of your ego, but that doesn't sell your CDs. And so, the key is you want to get out there to the people now. When you play, go like this. I guarantee if you look at one person for long while you're doing your solo, that guy is going to buy your CDs, going to buy your hat, he's going to buy your badge, everything you got because you have to own the stage. It is your show! [INDISCERNIBLE], it's not about the lead singer; he's off there drinking his water. It's your turn to get up there and give them some serious [SOUNDS LIKE] wailing. In England, it means we're the program, alright? So anyway, we're going to come back on the other side. I'm going to stick with him a little bit more when I talk a little bit more about how to be a soloist when your time comes. So stick around.
