Sharing Stories with Google Reader

So now I am going to talk about how you can share stories with your friends in Google Reader and they just added this very social feature to allow you to invite your friends, by friends, I mean people basically from your G-mail contacts list. And you can, whenever you see a story you like you can click right here to share it. Then all of your friends will see it under their Google Reader in this link right here for any shared items. And you will see all of the items you have shared right here in your shared items. So, let me show you how this works. First you will have to set up your profile and your friends. So you will go to your settings and then the friends tab. Then you will want to set up your profile and just enter in all of this information; whatever you want to do. And you can have a picture. And then you can see that there is only one person right here, but that is because this is just an e-mail that I just started. So, your G-mail account, if you have a G-mail account and you have all of your contacts in there and you use it, you should see a lot of them right here. And basically who shows up here, according to Google, is people that you have chatted with, either in Google Talk or in the chat in G-mail. So, once you have chatted with them, they will show up and then they will all be listed here. They will have check boxes and then you would just invite them to read here. Then you have this little message right here and you can send them a standard message or whatever. So, now they are invited to use Reader, and either they will start using Reader or if they already do use Reader then you will now be friends. So they can see your shared items and again, they will see it in this Friends' shared items because I would be their friend. Every item that I shared, by clicking right here, they would see. So, that is how you share items with friends in Google Reader and just a kind of cool social aspect that they added. So, you can kind of like starring an item, but for your friends to see. So that is how you share items in Google Reader.
