How to Check Antifreeze Levels

Hi, I'm Jake from Burt Brothers Tire and on behalf of ExpertVillage.com we're going to talk about the different fluids under your vehicle today, and how to know which proper fluids you should put in your vehicle. Okay, first of all you want to consult with your owner?s manual because every vehicle can be different, and require special fluids. Some specific to the car manufacturer that you are driving. Okay, so let's look at antifreeze right here. On the cap right here, first of all you never want to open this when it's hot, but right on the cap its requiring antifreeze called Dexcool. Okay, it's not green antifreeze, it's normally a pink or an orange tint to it made for these types of General Motors vehicles. So, it's more of a higher mileage antifreeze, you want to make sure to top that off, it's available at your dealership and actually all your part stores, local parts stores, will have that in stock for you, anywhere you have your oil changed, should carry those kind of fluids to get the proper antifreeze in there. If your car has green antifreeze in it you want to keep just the normal, regular antifreeze in there and that's also available at your local parts stores and the car dealership can get that available for you. Or come by any one of your service station shops that does auto repairs and maintenance and they can get you taken care of.
