How to do a Frisbee Turn in Salsa Dancing as a Couple

Another variation on the inside turn is called a Frisbee turn. We're going to show you first and then we'll break it down. We're going to do our basic, one, two, three, we're going to start out with a cross body lead, one, two, three, you're going to slide out to two hands, forward open up, five, six, seven. One, two, three, five, six, seven. To get into this we're going to use a cross body lead to make a smooth transition. So, one, two, three, after we push her forward on five, we're going to slide our hand down her arm and catch it at the end. Now what we don't want to do is extend too far. So we don't want to end up like that. We want to keep our elbows bent and finish here. The next part, the gentlemen are going to do almost like a cross body lead footwork, except that they are going to over rotate. So instead of going forward and open like a cross body lead, like this o.k.? Instead the guy is going to open up more. He's going to go forward and open to the side. Now notice how he cheated his foot forward and to the side slightly. He went forward, forward and open, rather than forward and place and open because that's harder to do. So we just cheat forward a little bit. Forward two, three, open up to the side so now we're both facing the same direction. Let me show you another angle. We're going to do it like this, forward and open. Notice that both of our elbows are bent and we're close together. This is Salsa, not Broadway. We don't want to do this because then you'll be knocking people next to you and hitting everybody, o.k.? So you want to keep it close, forward open up. Ladies if you want you can style the arm out to the side, o.k.? Now we're going to give her the inside turn, it follows the same pattern as all the other inside turns. On five, we lead her forward, on six we're going to toss the hand out to the back, six and on seven we're going to catch her by placing the hand in the middle of the back and of course that is the cue for the ladies to get their arm up and over o.k.? So from this side we're going forward and open up, so we're both facing this way. Gentlemen you're going back, rock, together. As you lead her forward on five, you do a small back rock with your right foot as you toss the hand out to the back you're going to step forward with the left on six and then together on seven as you catch her ladies arm up and over and we go back to basic, two, three. O.k., we're going to show you up to speed. Cross body lead, five, six, seven. One, two, three, slide the hands out, forward and open , forward toss catch, one, two, three, five, six, seven.
