How to do an Inside Turn in Salsa Dancing as a Couple

Alright so we have shown you how to do the inside turn footwork for the ladies, we're going to put it together as a couple now. For the men the footwork is just a cross body lead so you already know it. We're going to demonstrate it first and then we'll break it down. So the ultimate goal is for it to look like this. We have our basic two, three, five, six, seven, one, two, three, inside turn, basic two, three, five, six, seven. Breaking it down, first thing to know that up to count five is completely identical to a cross body lead. So we're going to go forward and open push. Up to there, no changes. Just remember guys with the left hand you want to be guiding her forward, don't keep it in and hold her back like this o.k.? So we got her forward on five, now we are going to talk about the left hand first for the gentlemen o.k.? With the left hand you're going to bring it back and above her head, six and down on seven, o.k.? Now we have two options, we can end like this in an open position, which is fine depending on what you're going to do next or we can end in a closed position and that's when we need to talk about the right hand. So after you push her on five, one, two, three, five. If you're going to finish in a closed position, you want to keep the right hand in contact with her body so that she knows you're going to finish in a closed position. So all you're going to do is as you start to turn her with the left hand, you're going to drop this hand down to her waist level, and drag it there and when you're finished you just bring it back up. The reason we do this is so the lady knows she needs to get her arm up and over. If not, her arm is going to be down here trapped underneath and we're going to have to go like this and it's really awkward. So if you're going to finish in closed position, we let her know by keeping the right hand in contact with her body. Now be careful guys, because if you don't slide it down at the right time, you could end up molesting her, we don't want that. We don't want to be touching her there. You want to make sure you drop it down to the waist level. So for all of our inside turns, we're going to lead her forward on five, turn her on six, catch her on seven. So ladies as you're turning you just want to drape the left hand in front of your chest as you're turning and then once you feel his hand on your back you're going to lift it up and drape it over. So one more time we've got, one, two, three, five, drape it across, over, one, two, three, five, six, seven.
