About NHRA Racing Driver Cards

TINA STULL: Hi, I'm Tina Stull and I drive the Top Dragster for Interstate Batteries. On behalf of Expert Village, today, we're going to talk about the basics of racing. As we talked about when we were putting the promo package together, one of the main components is going to be your driver's card. The driver's card basically, as you can see, tons of examples, they all have some basic qualities that make them similar. First off, you want to make sure that you have your name, that's readily--you want to have your name that's easily read. You want to have a picture of your car and also the logo from your main sponsor, and that's pretty much what all of these have in common. There's a lot of freedom in size. There's kind of the standard size that would be the full page. You have a lot of them. They're going to the half page. And then on the back, really, the variance between all of them is so wide. It really comes down to what do you have to promote. A winner like John Force, he's going to tell a story. He's going to brag about how many wins he has, how fast he's gone, all of that. If you're just starting out, you may not have anything really as far as career history. And so you might utilize the space for your sponsor, and like in the case of this, this was one of the things that my sponsor was able to help me out with. And so in the back, we utilized it to kind of explain a little bit about them and then also give some recognition to some of the organizations that I work with. Also usually included on these are your schedules for that year's racing season. It can be helpful but get creative with this. This is something that it's just going to go out. If you have a Web site, put your Web site name on it. If you have other Web sites of the people that you support, put those on there as well. Every time that you can connect yourself to another endorsement or another sponsor, that's going to help. It's a mutually beneficial thing. This comes down to that. As we've discussed, when we're talking about sponsorship and the cost of sponsorship, this is part of it, is that you need to give back to your sponsor. And sometimes, if you're lucky, your sponsor may provide you with these. If they don't, I still say it's a really solid investment. It allows people to get your name, remember it, have something they can view over and over again. Kids love them. And it opens a door a lot of times for you to have discussions and to just broaden your fan base.
