Why You Should Promote Yourself for NHRA Racing

TINA STULL: Hi, I'm Tina Stull and I drive the Top Dragster for Interstate Batteries. On behalf of Expert Village, today, we're going to talk about the basics of racing. First off, why promote? This is isn't about ego. This is about your sponsors. This is about trying to establish a solid team with name recognition. Part of the way that you can promote is there's through the internet, there's through local newspapers, magazines, all the way up to national television. But how do you draw the attention to where somebody's going to want to even read your story or pay attention to your team? As a driver in a team, you're basically a billboard. As a billboard, you're there to draw attention to your sponsor or to whether it be their event or a product and pretty much you handle it all the same. A lot of times you can get help from the sponsor. The sponsor can put out--my particular sponsor does a yearly calendar, and this year, they included me in the calendar. And so, my sponsor will give me these to hand out when I do appearances or races and so forth.
