MICHAEL PLUNKETT: Hi. This is Michael Plunkett on behalf of Expert Village. Today, we're going to look at some of the basic chord shapes that we use for playing guitar. Well, first, we're going to take a look at our chord chart and how we'll go about reading the different aspects, the strings, the frets, and also the finger placements that we'll use on the chord charts, and then we're going to apply those to the five major chord shapes that we use on guitar. We use an acronym; it's called CAGED for guitar. It's C-A-G-E-D, and that's the order of the chord shapes that we're going to look at. First one is C, and an A, G, E, and D. And we're going to look at each one of those shapes first in their open position, as you just saw me play it on here, and then, we'll also take each one of those and use it with a movable position or a movable fingering. That's where we could take fingers and put them in different order and actually shift the chords around, taking my C shape, and I'm moving in to make different chords out of it. And so, we'll use this idea to shift all around the neck.
