How to Change a Bias Amp Tube
DENIS DOWNING: On behalf of Expert Village, this is Denis Downing at Roxy Studios, New York City and today, I'm going to show you how to set up some band equipment. Okay. Now, if you--we're going to change your tubes first so we'll make sure they're cool, okay? And what you're going to want to do is--in this case, this is a Marshall. And Marshalls and Fenders basically have to be biased. If you don't know how to bias an amp, bring it to a professional. A lot of other amps out there, the Boogies, Peaveys, the Soldanos, there's a lot of amps out there. If you call the manufacturer, you could find out if it's a self-biasing amp or not. If it is, then you could go out and buy a matched quad, they have to be a matched quad for 100 watt amp. If it's a 50 watt amp, they'll just be two power tubes. So, then you could go out and buy yourself a matched pair and you could put them in yourself and save yourself the bench charge. I would suggest changing the preamp tubes at the same time
