Hi, I am David Belch with Expert Village today to show you how to install windows. What I am going to do today is I am going to show you how to make stops. There is a two inch depth from the window to the outside of the brick mold. I am going to make about 1 inch and 1/2 to about 1 inch and 5/8, it doesn't really matter that much. All I do is I take my saw and this from here to here is about 1 inch and 5/8. I finger scroll it and then just rip it down. Now what I do is get it to size. I try to put the in fours because that makes it 1 inch and 1/2. The window is 45 and 1/2. I will make my stops 45 because that gives me play and gives me the ability to put a bottom strip on the window that won't get in the way. I flush my ends and they are 45 each way. There again close is good because it is all going to be covered. It is just a stop. It is not molding. I drop my plate back up. Grab a bunch, cut far side first, other side next. Repeat. That's how you make a stop.
