TV News Reporter Script for Director

BILL ALBIN: Hello, I'm Bill Albin. And on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to teach you what you need to know to be a local news reporter. In this clip, we're going to talk about basic software that you use to produce and write a newscast. But there are many different kinds of news software and they're all similar, but they have various differences but they all have the basic same information. You have a director's side and you have the talent side. In the talent side, you put the script information. For example, every story has the lead sentence which is the right now. This is what's happening right now, right now. You always start the story in present tense. Grab the viewer's attention. You say this is going to affect you at this moment. After that, you have the body of the story which is the meat and potatoes of any story. Here is where the important information, give the information. This is when it happened or this is how many people where injured in an accident. This is what time the accident occurred. This is the fire department that responded and provided paramedics. At the end of that, you have the wrap up or the disposition line. What that means is how did the story ends, how many--were those people who are in that car accident, were they rescued? Were they taken to the local hospital or what happened next? In the future, this is where they will have to go. This person was injured severely enough. He may need physical therapy and so on. It's the end of a story, how it will happen or how it will wrap up, what will happen next.
