How to Loosen Lugs on a Truck Tire

Hi my name is Nate McCullough on behalf of Expert Village. In the following clips we're going to talk about the correct procedure for replacing your upper and lower ball joints on a two wheel drive full size vehicle. In this clip we're going to talk about the proper service procedure for removal of your vehicles hub cap and breaking loose of your lug nuts. My four way here, small pry bar for removal of the hub cap. To take off the hub cap is pretty much the same service procedure for all vehicles however the appearance will vary depending upon the make and model. On this particular one you just take your pry bar screw driver and insert it behind the hub cap and pry it off just like so, I'll set that over to the side. The reason why you have to break your lug nuts loose before you begin any other service procedure is that they are tight enough but if you were to jack up the vehicle off the ground and try and break them loose the wheel will just free spin as your turning it. With my four way lug nut, give it a good stiff turn, your not going to want to take them all the way off. If you were to do that the wheel may pop off the studs, damage the vehicle and possibly yourself. And there you go, that is the proper service procedure for removing your vehicles hub cap and breaking loose you lug nuts.
