I'd recommend adding more detail to this video by demonstrating the application of white silicon compound.

How to Apply Thermal Compound to CPU
Hi! My name is Stephanie and I’m here on behalf of expertvillage.com. Please visit our web site at www.clickincomputer.com. This processor came with thermal grease intact, most do, but some do not. The way you can tell is by looking at the heat sink. If it has a great patch in the center, it is ready to go. If it doesn’t or if you got it used you are going to need to pick some up. You can get it at just about any electronics or computer store. I recommend the white silicone compound because it is nonconductive and like the silver, which has metal in it and if it is not applied properly they can get into your motherboard connections and short it out. If you did get the parts used, make sure to completely remove all of the old compound before applying new using rubbing alcohol. Be careful not to touch or bend the pins whenever you are cleaning it. To apply thermal compound you need to squeeze a small amount on it and take a credit card, business card or something similar to spread it out evenly and thinly.
