Tax Exemptions & 1040A Form Tips
In this section we are going to talk about exemptions. First of all there is personal exemptions which are defined as yourself and your spouse. You want to check box 6a your self unless you have a situation where someone else can claim you as a dependent. Such as a parent and a child. Where the parent where may be providing some of your income. So you need to check with them before you check this if you have any doubt. You can check the box 6b for your spouse is any of the following applies; your filing status is married and filing jointly and your spouse cannot be claimed as a dependent on another person return. If/or if you are married at the end of 2007, your filing status is married filing separately or head of household, and both of the following applies your spouse had not income and is not filling a return. Your spouse cannot be claimed as a dependent on another person's return.
