Hi, I'm Mark Sullivan for Expert Village and today we're going to teach you how to change the oil in a standard internal combustion automobile engine. Now we can lower the vehicle slightly so that the weight of the vehicle would be held by the jack stands and also by the jack. So very slowly, lower some of the weight off of the floor jack onto the jack stands and check it again. Okay, that looks good. That looks not as good. I'm going to raise it back up just a little bit and reposition this other floor jack. Okay, that looks good, that looks good. So the floor jacks are now properly positioned under the frame members and the weight is being held by the jack stands but I also like to leave the floor jack in place also so that if something goes wrong I will not be crushed by the vehicle. If you're ever working on a car and you have a spare tire, many times it's good to put a spare tire just underneath the vehicle somewhat so that if the car does fall, at least it's not going to smash you flat. So anyway, we'll keep the jack in position and the two floor jacks are also in position for additional safety.
