Beginning Strokes for Violins

When you're looking for a short, crisp sound you can always do a staccato. It's right next to the frog, and it makes a short popping sound. You can also play with the full length of your bow, which gives a long, drawn out, loud sound. You can also perform what's called a tremolo; usually done at the tip of your bow; very fast and very soft. There's also the ability to make your sound grow louder and softer just by changing the position of your bow. Remember; you always start in the middle of your bow at the middle of the strings. To go louder we move further down, and to go softer you move closer to the neck. It's the same amount of pressure, but it can change everything in a matter of moments.
