Another example of playing additional notes within the rhythm of the basic Blues pattern in the key of E is, essentially, where you can use, in this example, two strings and I'm going to show you right now. I'm going to play the E, and what I'm going to do is, I'll play it slowly at first, I'm going to go...(audio demo) Essentially what I'm doing there is playing E with the same rhythm, with the same basic rhythm. And, what I'm doing is playing the third fret, throwing which is not in the key, but it's what's called an accidental and it gives it a nice flavor to the rhythm. I'm going three, fourth fret, to the B second from the A, then back to E.
