Tips & Techniques on How to Choose a Furniture Stain

Okay now before we actually begin this staining and before you actually go out and pick out your staining materials, what you need to consider is you need to think about what type of wood that you actually have and what type of stain color that you actually want on the wood. Now the stain that I have chosen for the wood here is because of the fact that the wood is a lighter colored wood and it has some distinct markings on it here that I really want to show through. Depending on the type of wood that it is, it may actually need a special treatment before you begin staining. This type, there are, there seem to be several different types of wood in here but they are all soft woods and I have determined that I am not going to treat them at this time because they do not need it. In certain cases, you might need to bleach the wood before beginning the stain that will lighten it up a little bit and get some of the uneven areas to be more even with other actual coloration of the wood. We don't need to do that for this project and sometimes that is a little bit too advanced when you are beginning just a simple sanding and re-staining project like this, so I have chosen not to do that.
