Playing a Dome on a Cymbal with Rods

JOEL SIEGEL: All right. We'll go to the third area of the cymbal with your hot rods. This is what it's going to sound like when you're doing the wood. Same goes to the rod as far as the tip versus the side of the stick. So just strike the dome with the side. You can hear it's a little more sound. Last thing I want to do is, again, we'll experiment with this rubber tip. This pretty much you have to go to the side because of the nature of the location. Once again, you have a mellower attack with the rubber and that's just one more color to add to your palette.
