JOEL SEIGEL: All right. Let's talk about our wash with the rods. The same principle applies. We're going to do the side of the rod that gets the edge of the cymbal. But once again, the unique composition of the rod is going to come into play. So first we'll do the wooden dowels that get the cymbal. Let's see how that sounds. Compare that to striking the cymbal with this thin plastic- rubber material. With the rubber, you're getting less attack. It's kind of more of a muted sound, a softer sound. That's because it's not the harder wood attacking the side of the cymbal, it's that plastic. MAN: We're a little bit short. JOEL SEIGEL: Well, okay.
