Hi! This is Aaron Fruitstone and Liz Muller from Chi Martial Arts in Miami Shores, Florida. You can reach us on the web at www.chimartialarts.com. The next beginning Brazilian jiujitsu technique that you will be learning is known as the Americana. I am going to do it from the mount position, so when the person is in the mount position they will typically put their hands up to defend. I am going to cup both of my hands without using my thumbs and keep my elbows close to me. Once I start to put my hands on it, I am going to use my weight. I have just put my hands towards the ground, my elbow is very close to her head, so that she cannot move her head towards me to escape. I am pressing down to keep all my weight down. I am going to bring this arm around and under. With no thumb I grab my own wrist and I make sure that her hand stays pinned to the ground. Now very slowly I am going to pin it towards the ground lifting her elbow up. When she is uncomfortable she taps. Again from here cup your hands, press down, her hands lies under, grabs the wrist with no thumb, pinned and lift.
