Hi! I'm Mark Sullivan for Expert Village and today we are going to show you how to build a fire in your backyard barbecue pit. Now that we have a pretty good fire going, we can start putting on some even thicker pieces of wood that will burn for hours. This is the first time we have ever had a fire in this fire pit and I am noticing some pretty interesting dynamics occurring in here with a swirling effect and it is pretty interesting. So our fire pit has some personality from the air flow in here, how it spirals, interesting. So I think we are going to leave it like this for a little while so that it does not get too large. We are going to let this burn down a little bit and this is not yet ready to put your food on. It would just burn it up. So you are going to let this burn down for maybe 10 or 15 minutes and then you would have a good bed of coals and then you can put your food onto your grill and put your food on your backyard barbecue pit.
