Utensils Needed for Making Cornbread
Hi, my name is Brandon Sarkis on behalf of Expert Village. Today I'm going to be showing you how to make buttermilk cornbread, as well as jalapeño buttermilk cornbread. Okay, things we're going to need to make our cornbread today. We're going to need three bowls. I use plastic bowls because if you use metal, and you use a metal whisk on metal, it will kind of turn it kind of a grayish color. So plastic bowls, I have two that are the same. We're going to do one for the dry ingredients, one for the wet ingredients. And then I've got one other large bowl here that's going to be for when I put all the ingredients together. So, three large bowls. They can be the same size if they have to be. It just so happens that one of those happens to be bigger than the others. I've got a whisk for whisking up my ingredients, which is always handy to have. I have a rubber spatula, which is good for scraping everything out, scraping the mixture, and making sure we get all the way to the bottom, and scraping the sides down the bowl. So, very very handy. I've also got, because this recipe calls for two different, I'm doing a regular cornbread as well as a jalapeño, I have two different cast iron pans. Now, these are I think six inch cast iron pans. You can't really make cornbread without using a cast iron pan. It just doesn't work very well. You could do it in aluminum or steel, it just, you won't have the same effect. It won't have the same crispy outside. It will probably be more like a cake, more kind of soft. So, I have two cast iron pans. You can see here that they're well seasoned. But I'm going to go over that in a minute too and how to do that. Also, what else am I going to need? Oh, an oven. You've got an oven that can go to two hundred fifty degrees, so that's handy. And oh yeah, you're going to need a towel, very very important as well. And you're also going to need a pot holder. Mine looks like a monkey face, so, this we're going to use this to actually handle the pans. So, with that being said, let's go ahead and get started making our cornbread.
