You are at a Christmas party and the boss comes up to and says, after we served dessert, I would like you to just stand up and address the troops here and give them a good message for next year. Just a few minutes, just something that would really encourage them and then you freeze. You can't believe he has thrown this at you all of a sudden and you don't know what to say. The last thing on your mind was to give a speech. This happens all the time. It might be you've just won a great victory and the press wants to talk to you or you've just loss something huge in your company, you have really been set back or whatever. I am going to work you through a couple of simple things that you can do that will take all the fear out of this process or at least most of it and put some calm in place and give you the ability to really communicate some excellent ideas to people when you only have a few minutes to get ready for.
