How to Hang a Shelf for Pictures

Hi, I'm Bobby Hester on behalf of Expert Village. In this series, we're going to show you how to hang big pictures, small pictures and every size in between. We're going to show you how to use hangers and we're going to show you how to quickly and easily hang a picture just like a professional. As we approach the end of this series, there's one more thing that I'd like to show you. I have this shelf that I already installed and I'm wanting to put another one right here. I've already put one of the anchors in and I want to have the other one marked and I'm going to use the plastic anchor that came with this unit. And it's like a big old screw, it's just all you need is a screwdriver and it screws right into the wall. I typically do not care for these anchors that much because of the fact that they leave such a big hole in the wall. If you ever need to move your item off the wall, you're left with a big old hole to patch and that's really hard to do. But in this case, with a shelf, it's going to be pulling because the shelf is going to be pushing down so it's actually going to be pulling away from the wall so this big anchor actually works very well in this application, even though it does make a big hole. It's very simple to use, all you need is just a regular screwdriver. You don't even need a power drill. They're very easy to put in. So, you just push it against the wall and you start to just screw it in there and in no time it goes right into the wall. This particular unit has another screw that screws into the plastic anchor and I'll go ahead and put that in and I will leave it out just a little bit, and now we're all set. I can take my shelf and go ahead and hang it back up there and there it is. My shelf is ready to be used.
