Materials Needed for Hanging Pictures

Hi! I'm Bobby Hester on behalf of Expert Village. In this series, we're going to show you how to hang big pictures, small pictures, and every size in between. We're going to show you how to use hangers and we're going to show you how to quickly and easily hang a picture just like a professional. In this clip, I want to talk to you about some of the tools that you're going to need to hang a picture. If you walk into your hardware store, you're going to find every gadget and every gizmo in the world to help you hang photos and pictures on your walls. Most of that is not necessary. You don't need the latest greatest laser level to get your pictures level on your wall. Just a regular level will work just fine. You'll need just a regular hammer to drive the nails or the hangers into your wall. Later on in this series, we're going to talk about a project calculator. It's a handy device, but you don't have to have it. We also have a stud finder if you want to use that. If you have a real heavy picture, you can use a stud finder for that. Of course, there's multiple hangers on the market. If you walk in your hardware store, you're going to find dozens of different types. Some of them work pretty good and some of them don’t. We're going to go over that a little bit later in the series. You also need a pair of safety glasses if you're going to be using your hammer. Anytime you drive a nail, a hanger, or something like that, there is a chance, even though it's light, that something can bounce back in your eye. You just want to be safe and wear your glasses. Finally, we'll need a screw driver. You're not going to really use it that much, but in certain applications like with some of the plastic anchors, you will need a screwdriver.
