How to Avoid Hurting Your Back

Hi! I'm Dr. Eric Sayer from Sayer Family Chiropractic. I'm here on behalf of Expert Village. In this video, we're going to talk about how to avoid strains of the low back. One way would be don't do anything, but of course that's not very practical. In this segment, I'm going to talk about how to avoid strains of the low back. One of the things would be is if you're doing repetitive motion, take breaks. Change things up. Not always do the exact same motion in the exact same way. One of the most dangerous problems that people have is when they're lifting, bent over, a little bit twisted to the side, and they're constantly doing this type of thing. Very tough on the low back. The other thing would be just lifting something heavy that you're not able to lift. Of course, we talk about lifting with our knees. Always bend your knees, get down as far as you can, lift it up as close to your body as possible. The more further out you are, the more awkward it is. The heavier it is, it's going to be tougher on your back and you're going to strain it.
