When to Replace Car Tires

Hi I'm Jake from Burt Brother Tire and on behalf of expertvillage.com, we're here to tell you how you should know when it's time to replace your tires and some key things to think about when replacing tires. First of all you want to look at your tire and this is an easy demonstration, I've actually got it removed from the car to simplify this to showing this to you. You want to visually inspect the tire for wear on both sides, to see if it's wearing evenly. You know you can run your hand over the tire and see we've got a puncture, a little nail here, definitely because it needs a flat repair, or to loose air pressure. There's another one right here. So this could be definitely something you can look to replace here. There is some shoulder wear on both sides here which might you know due to improper alignment or infrequent tire rotations. But you want to look and rotate the tread wear applicators which you can see if you zoom in right here on the tire, it's in about 4 or 5 different sections along the tire here, it's just a little increase above here. It's got plenty of tread on here because you can see that the tread wear indicator is right there. So as the tire gets worn down about that even, that's when it's time to replace your tires. The more tread you have on, definitely the more traction, the longer life you have remaining in your tires. If you ever see a worn on the wear bar or some irregular wear on the outside or inside edges, it will be time to replace some tires. So consult your owner's manual in your vehicle, it'll show you a lot of things that I'm explaining here and you know you can always consult a local guy at a tire shop to get you some more assistance. Thank you.
