BRYAN BILLHIMER: Hi. I'm Bryan Billhimer and on behalf of Expert Village, welcome to Guitar Playing 101, The Basics. Okay. So now we're going to talk about your right-hand technique. This is your--the hand that you use to pick the strings with down here. So first, there's a couple of different ways you can hold your pick. I like to hold it with, like, my index finger and middle finger on the bottom and my thumb on the top just like that. You can also just hold it with your index finger and your thumb. Again, it's kinda whatever is most comfortable for you. Then, we want to rest our forearm right here on the body, just like that, and rest our palm right here, is going to rest right here, just behind the bridge or on the bridge, just like that. And then we'll position our hand like this so that we can pick the strings just like that. And as we pick, especially when we're picking single notes, which is what we're going to be doing at the beginning, we're always going to leave our palm down here on the bridge and it kinda pivots like this as you move your wrist up and down on the strings. So that's your right-hand technique. Next, we're going to talk about your left-hand technique.
