BRYAN BILLHIMER: Hi. I'm Bryan Billhimer and on behalf of Expert Village, welcome to Guitar Playing 101, The Basics. Okay. So now we're going to talk about a couple different ways that you can hold the guitar or position the guitar. The best way, the most comfortable way for me, and it's really all about what's most comfortable for you, but the most comfortable way for me is to put this part, this curve on the body right here. It's a little different on every guitar but almost every guitar has a curve right there. I like to set that on my right leg, like on my right thigh, and then lean the top part of the body up against my chest a little bit. Now, the other method is, and this is more for, like, classical guitar playing, you'll see this a lot, they'll just move the guitar over and put that curve on the body on their left thigh like this and lean the top up against their chest. And then, of course, if you have a guitar strap, you can always strap on the guitar and play standing up. So then, now that we know how to position the guitar on our lap, I'm going to talk about your right-hand technique.
