Tools for Replacing a Ball Joint on Cars

Hi, my name is Nate McCullough on behalf of Expert Village. In these clips, we are going to talk about the proper way to remove and replace a front wheel drive vehicle's ball joint. In this clip, we are going to talk about the tool required to replace a front wheel drive vehicle's ball joint. As you can see here, I have my magnetic tray that is going to hold all of the bolts that we take apart. I have my hydraulic floor jack. Best thing in the world, it beats the scissor jack hands down. I have my jack stand, safety device in order to hold the vehicle up so we can rely on the mechanical device instead of a hydraulic device and I have my Kraftsman tool set with a couple of other add ons I have in my tray. These are the tools that you are going to need. Depending on the vehicle, you may or may not need a ball joint press. I'll get into that later.
