How to Choose an RC Car Engine

Robbie speaking for Expert Village. We're going to talk about nitro motors right now or nitro engines. When you buy an RC typically, it's going to want one or two different size engines, depending on the scale. In general there's going to be two size engines, there's a big block and a small block. Depending on the application is which engine you're going to use. The difference between the two of them is pretty obvious. This is a small block, that's a big block. So you can see physically they're considerably different, okay. Small blocks are going to typically go in your ten scale vehicles, big blocks are going to go in eight scale vehicles, rule of thumb. The cubic inches and the metric inches, the different sizes of them, you'll see a lot of stuff in the industry. The manufactures are really confusing it these days, the bigger the number the larger the engine. So you'll see a lot of games being played with 3.5, 4.6, 2.5, 1.5, in general you can kind of skip all of that. Big block, small block is what you're looking for. Big block engines they all run on nitro methane as we talked about before. Nitro methane methanol caster it's pre-mixed. But in general a big block is going to run thirty percent nitro methane, small blocks going to run twenty percent.
