Grinding Wheat for Organic Oatmeal Cookies

Hi my name is Sheryl McGlachlin, with crazySheryl.com. Welcome to expertvillage.com. I want to talk about how to actually grind whole wheat. I do store my wheat ahead of time in this big bucket so I have it ready to use. It needs to be in kind of a dark cool place. I will take about a couple of bowls and I will put it in my nut mill. I put it in the top. Now, when I turn this on. I'll turn this on. It has a couple of speeds. I can make it finer or more coarser. I always use it on the finer, but before I turn it on, this is where the wheat is going to come down and turn into flour and it will be held in this tub here. When you wash this you don't actually ever use water you can just kind of brush it off. This little filter you just kind of shake off in your sink but you don't ever put water in this. Once you have ground the wheat, I will go ahead and store it in a zip lock bag, a gallon size bag. I keep it in the freezer. I don't ground a lot, not more than about a gallon of flour that I can actually put in the freezer. You'll see how we use this. I can pull it out and make pancakes, cookies, or whatever.
