Skiers Code of Responsibility

I'm Ivan Madar. I'm a professional ski instructor and I'm here on behalf of Expert Village. Proper stance is extremely important to proper technique. Notice what the correct stance is and what is not the correct stance where you are going to be out of balance. First, notice the flex in my ankles. Make sure your ski poles allow for flex in the ankles. You should be able to move your knees forward, almost over the toes of your boots. The flex in the hips is also, a lot in the knees, but its not as significant in your lower body. That means the upper body is much straighter. Now what is an incorrect way of doing it? It's bending over in your waist. When you do that, you straighten out your knees. So, pushing your knees forward, flexing the ankles aids your ability on the skis. You feel your weight on the whole front and having the arms in front of you and to the side helps you balance.
