Cleaning a New Reptile Terrarium

On behalf of Expert Village I'm Nicole. After you purchase your terrarium you need to clean it. Even if you buy fresh brand new from the pet store you are going to want to make sure you clean it out really good before you introduce any animals to it. One of the products I like to use on especially on the aquarium type of terrariums I like to use the wipe out. It's a disinfectant it has microbes that will kill a variety of different diseases and it's very important that you clean out your terrarium before you introduce your reptiles. Because they often can carry a lot of parasites and bacteria that are going to be harmful to your pet. Especially if they are purchased from a yard sale or given to you by a friend they are going to be used so you don't know what has been in that terrarium. You don't know what kind of parasites are in that terrarium and you always want to make sure that your not putting your pets at any risks. You clean it out by the glass is really easy you just us the wipe out product and let it dry after you wipe it clean. The wood terrariums the easiest thing to do with them if you can take them apart at all or if you can just take them outside and hose them down and get them wet and then apply something like this. You can easily spray it onto the wood and let it air dry and that will kill any bacteria that is on the wood. Other types of terrariums such as plastic easy just with a spray clean just don't use the bleach. I don't recommend using a bleach solution on terrariums simply because if there is any left behind it's going to be harmful to your animal. You need to make sure that you use a very very diluted bleach solution if you do decide to use bleach.
