Now I'm going to demonstrate a figure of eight loop. Now this is a very useful loop and a very sturdy loop too. It?s based off the common principles of a regular figure of eight knot, just with a loop. If you look down here on my table, you can see that I've all ready pulled a bite into my rope here. And I'm going to use my bite as my working end. So I'm going to take it, and I'm going to wrap it around, and basically create the overhand knot. But instead, I'm going to pull it and twist it around and skip the overhand knot. And go ahead and make my beginnings of my figure of eight here. Let?s try to keep these lines together here so they look pretty when my knot is finished. And bend it over, and as you can see I've got my eight going on here. I pull it tight, and there it is. A nice figure of eight knot. Its not going to slip. It?s very well in the line. Now let?s pull this out and we're going to do this one more time. This time skip the overhand knot section. So we'll take it, turn it around, bring it over, twist it under the standing end, and then back over and through the loop. Creating this figure of eight look here. Its very nice looking the way it is, but if you pull it, it will go, or if you jerk on it, it will go as well. But we'll pull it together in something that resembles a nice figure of eight loop.
