How to Tie a Transom Knot

Now I'm going to show you the Transom knot. The transom knot is a great knot to use if you want to put two pieces of anything together at a perpendicular angle. So if we look down here, you can see that I have my two pieces of wood, and then I have my line. Now what I'm going to do with my line is, I'm going to bring it over here, I'm going to lay it over the top of both of them, I'm just going to move this little piece of wood up here. As you can see I've just brought it over and cut across here. I'm going to wrap it around my initial piece of wood, and then back around creating this cross over the top here. Then I'm going to wrap it around my lower end of my lower piece of wood here. Around and over. I'm going to wrap it also under my standing end, like so. Let me see if I can put this at a better angle so it can be seen. There we go; I'm going to wrap it under and over my standing end. Now it?s going to come over my standing end, and through the bite that we have just created here. I'm just going to pull on this and pull it a little bit tighter. And then we're going to take it and wrap it back under my standing end and back through the bite once again. Pulling tight on it. There we go, nice transom knot.
