The turtle knot is another great hitch to use if you?re trying to hitch a line to something. Usually if you are going to hitch to a pot and pan, or whatever, something that has a hole and a straight edge on it. I'll show you what I mean down here. I'll show you with my pair of scissors I've got here. What I'm going to do, is I'm going to take my line, and I'm going to run it through my scissors like so. What I'm going to do, is I'm going to wrap it around the shaft of my scissors, or the blades here. And its going to come back over the standing end that I have here. Then I'm going to run it through, creating a loop here. Then I'm going to run it back under and through like this. Basically creating here what would be just a simple overhand knot over the line itself. And as you tighten it, you just keep this here, making sure that this part stays here on your long strait edge here. You can pull tight, and there's your turtle knot. Your simple turtle knot. We'll do this one more time. Show the ease of this. Take it and run it through the scissors. And then over and under. We'll pull a little bit more. And then over and under. And then back through the original loop. Keeping a little loop here. And then back over, and then over the loop and back under and through the loop like so.
