Forwarding POP & IMAP Tab in Gmail Settings

Ok, now I am going to continue to go to the Gmail settings. The next thing we have is "Forwarding and POP/iMAP". The first option is ?Forwarding" and by default "forwarding" is disabled, but if you want a copy of all your mail coming into your Gmail inbox, to go to a different email address, then you would select right here and you would type that email address in here and then you would decide if want to keep a copy in your Gmail account or you wanted to archive your Gmail copy, or you want to delete your Gmail copy. So that will forward every message you get to whatever email address you choose. Then the next option is "POP download" and if you wanted to access your Gmail from a different mail account using POP, this where you would go right here. You would need to enable it right here, or enable for mail that arrives from now on. Then you have the option when messages are accessed with POP to keep a copy in your Gmail inbox, archive or delete it, just like before. Then Gmail gives you instructions on how to configure your client, so depending on which email client you want to use "Outlook, and Eudora", are some examples. If you just click on these instructions, it gives you all the instructions right here. If you are not to sure about what POP is they have a "Learn more" tab right here. It gives you more about POP, it says, ?POP, your post office protocol, lets you download messages from Gmail servers on to your computer so you can access it with your mail program like Microsoft Outlook Express or Netscape Mail, even when you are not connected to the internet. So, if that sounds like something you want to do, you might want to go to these POP settings. The next option is "IMAP Access" which is a lot like POP but is newer and a little bit better. So, if you want to enable this, you would enable it right here and then you would need to configure your email client, like Outlook, Thunderbird, etc. They have the instructions to configure different things right here. If you want to learn more about IMAP, there is a "learn more button". It says, "What is IMAP, or Internet Message Access Protocol, lets you download messages from Gmail servers onto your computer so you can access them your mail program like Microsoft Outlook Express or Apple Mail, even when you are not connected to the internet. So that sounds a lot like POP but the difference is IMAP offers two way communication between your web, Gmail, and your email clients. This means when you log into Gmail using a web browser, actions you perform on email clients and mobile devices will instantly and automatically appear in your Gmail. So if you access your mail from just many different places, including mobile, IMAP is probably the best way to go. Like I said you set that up in your "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" options in your "Settings" in Gmail.
