We've talked about the quick clean and now we are going to talk about a through deep clean of the rifle bore. Some people like to do it after every outing with the rifle, other people it's every hundred shots. Other people it's just when the bullet starts shooting sporadically. But the bullet when it travels through the rifle it leaves residue. So over time that residue builds up and a deep clean is necessary to make sure that the gun continues to shoot accurately and within a fairly tight pattern. You can buy various gun kits at the Wal-Mart sporting stores or Academy and there is many different gun kits that you could purchase. But essentially what you need to start out with is a rod, a cleaning point. And this you jam through the rifle to get rid of that to unlodge the residue by which you can get it out quicker and earlier. So the first thing to do is go ahead and take the bolt out of the rifle and we are not going to clean the gun because actually cleaning it messes up. You have to go zero in and re-shoot your rifle. But essentially what you would do is you would put the steel point down in there and you would run it up and down all the way down through the rifle bore once or twice to dislodge any of that residue. Once you have done that you would remove this tip here and move it and put a different tip on it. If I can do this real quick. With a white pad by which you are going to collect and get rid of that residue off. So once you do that you would put a gun solvent at first on this pad. Put it on there and run that up and down. Also once again through the bare rifle. You do this twenty or thirty times or so and then per thing per once or twice you would remove it put on a clean one and then after that you would put on a gun oil by which you would run down the end of the barrel. And you would run it down each time the white pad would become a little less dirty and a little less and would remain whiter. So you would do it maybe thirty times and maybe a hundred times until your gun barrel you got all of the residue out. The most important thing once you have cleaned a rifle is that you shoot at least one bullet to clear out all of that oil and all of that junk which will be very sporadic and then re-zero in your rifle to re-shoot that pattern. But once again do this every now and then to ensure that your gun when you are shooting a deer you know where the bullet is going and that your rifle is prepared for the hunt.
