How to Skin a Deer: Part 1

Another way to clean the deer is we are going to skin the deer to be able to get to the meat and to the bone to quarter the meat. There are various ways actually skin a deer. Typically I like to hang it up. Then we'll start at the top and then work our way down. You want to make sure on your first cut, when you're cutting around the top of the leg, that you don't cut through the tendon and collapse the leg on the side. Just start cutting a few inches below this joint area. You will cut down like this. Then work your way around the pelvic area, working your way. When you get this down you will pull down and just kind of play each side off, back and forth, working until you get down to this. Now that we've worked around both sides we can cut through here and cut through the tail bone. You can use this to then pull through and you just need to pull down. Anywhere you get resistance continue to cut and work its way down various sides.
