The other thing that we mentioned earlier was a hunting license. Aside from your safety course, you are required to have a hunter's license on you at all times when hunting and as soon as you shoot a deer, when you go to the deer, you must tag the deer with the hunting license. There are various places to buy hunting licenses, academy, Wal-Mart sports center some local gas stations in various small towns in Texas carry them as well. A hunter license in Texas gives you right to hunt and to fish. In various states you may have to buy a separate fishing license. You also have options of buying duck tags and other water fowl or other tags as well. In Texas, it comes with five tags, you just tear separate tags for deer. When you shoot a deer you must do a few things. You must put the ranch that it was shot on and the county and you must cut out the date that it was shot on. Then like I said, immediately put that tag on the animal. You also are required by law to fill out a game log so whenever you shoot a deer you remove the tag and fill out the same information on this game log. These tags are valid for one year with the valid and expiration date on them as well.
